The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.

Here's the situation. I've created a server-side report using VS 2008, which interrogates a SQL Server 2008R2 database. The report returns the expected results when I 'preview' it from within VS 2008 on the server. The Intranet application that uses the report is built using VS 2012, and uses Windows authentication. I've set up an AD uses group on our AD server, with the accounts of all the users that will access the application.

The application itself is deployed to IIS on a Windows 2012 server. The application works as expected until it comes to viewing the report, which is where I get the error, both from the application on my workstation and also if I 'browse' from within IIS.

I've tried a few things already (below):

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/896861

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19247645/the-request-failed-with-http-status-401-unauthorized-in-ssrs

I've also try to add the AD group that uses the application as a user group within ReportServer configuration manager and it giving it permission to browse, but get a different error.

Nothing that I've tried seems to have any effect and I've run out of ideas.

Can someone help please?
