Eliminate merged columns when exporting to Excel

Hello - I am using Report Builder and have a sub report which is running against multiple servers to return information on the most recent backups for each database on each server that it runs against.  I then have that sub report being called by a parent report which I have text boxes in to act as the column headers for the sub report, since I only want the column headers at the top and not repeated for each sub report.  The issue is when I export the data to Excel the headers in the parent report do not line up with the columns in the sub report and therefore Excel is merging columns together.  This makes things difficult being that I'd like to sort and filter within Excel.

Any help is appreciated.
